Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) – Your Pathway to Permanent Residency in Canada
The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) are for workers nominated by a province or territory to support their economy. Each province and 2 territories have their own immigration programs for certain groups of people.
This could be for you if you:
- Have a nomination from a Canadian province or territory
- Are eligible for one of the programs managed through Express Entry
- Meet the work experience and education requirements for the province or territory you want to nominate you
- Can communicate in English or French
There are two ways to apply for permanent residence through the PNP. The option you use depends on the province or territory you choose to immigrate to
What are the General Eligibility Requirements?
Vary by province and stream, but typically include:
- Work experience in a targeted occupation
- Valid language test results (English or French)
- Education credentials are often supported by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
- Proof of intent to live and work in the nominating province
- In some cases, a job offer or connection to the province (e.g., previous work/study, family ties).
Benefits of the PNP:
- Increases your chances if your CRS score is low
- Gives you a pathway to permanent residence tied to real job demand
- Some PNPs don’t require a job offer or high language scores
- Often better suited for international graduates, tradespeople, or those with Canadian work/study experience.
